1.01.10 New year, new songs. Incredibly enough, the album is relatively close to being finished. We're shooting to have it done withing a couple months. For now, here are some almost final mixes:
Vancouver! Vancouver! This Is It!
M. Heartless
Nine Old Men
11.27.09 Minus vocals on "City of Sirens", we're already tackling final mixes. "Mechanistas" is in the bag, w/ "Vancouver! Vancouver! This Is It!" in the pipeline. We're slated to spend this weekend finishing Gebo things up. Seriously?! SRSLY.
10.21.09 Has it really been 6 months?! So the tracking & overdubs of the 5 songs we're doing w/ Kevin Gebo are, not counting vocals, done. Then it's on to the mixing of the monster. We've also decided to expand the Dead Air tracks & remix them w/ Kevin. So we're not out of the woods yet, but we're a hell of a lot closer than we were @ the last update. We'll post a final mix or two when we get them!
4.28.09 Well, recording has slowed to a deliberate crawl, but we're pressing on. Meanwhile both of us have been playing w/ our friends Mike Benoit (the prodigal son, soon to return to the fold), Tyler Gorman, & Justin Hahn as Able Archer. So hopefully our urge to play out will be somewhat sated while we hunker down for more recording (& some re-recording?). We'll post some rough mixes as we get them!
1.25.09 We've recently been recording with Mr. Will Killingsworth over at Dead Air Studios, & have pretty much finished up the mixes for 4 songs: "Theme from 88 Hermanos", "Chocolate Bayou", "M. Heartless", & "New Oceans, Wet Leaves". 5 more to go, & we'll be spending the rest of February preparing to record those. Take a listen to M. Heartless.
11.13.08 So, some rather important news: Leslie has left the band. However, we have decided to soldier on, rather than dissolving the band. This leaves us in an unfortunate spot in terms of playing out at the moment, until we find a new bandmate. But, we're still planning on recording our full length beginning in the end of December. Hopefully we'll be back & ready to start playing shows again early next year!
9.24.08 It's been quite awhile! We did spend much of the summer writing some more songs, but overall, it was a pretty hectic summer filled with lots of shows. Unfortunately the last show we were supposed to play at Leon's and Leslie's apartments in Three Rivers got shut down by the landlord midway through Needle Up!'s set, so that's probably the last of the shows at the apartments.
We're taking the rest of this year off from playing shows (give or take a few) so we can focus on writing more songs and recording our full length, which we're aiming to have finished at some point in the winter or spring. In the meantime, we'll be seeing some of you around at various Western Mass shows.
We've also finally updated our Words page, so you can see just how nerdy we actually are.
7.15.08 So we've been back from tour for a month & haven't thanked the following yet: Chris Dooley, Pat the Bunny & The Tinderbox, The DIY Bandits, C-Dog, Anonymous Inc., Murdervan, Asinine, The Black Lodge, Tiger's Jaw, The Green Chair, Chuck & Dianne, Young Eli, Modern Formations, Jimmy & everyone @ The Legion of Doom, Le Vansona, Tin Armor, Castle Greyskull, Sheridan Sogge, Washington St Arts Center, Rise of The Robots, Billy Mack Collector, Laura Goldhamer, Denver Street Medics, Brooks Center Arts, Hot DATE, Kazuko, Mark Sarich & the LNAC, Attack of the Tacky, Torchlight Red, Semicolor, The fine family @ the Shrieking Shack, Tyler, Wonderroot Collective, Music For People, Collin Crowe the Sweet Hussy, Kansas House, Big Bear Cafe, Joan Ervine, Gestures, Baxter, Memories Lounge, Zebras & Bulls Fight Tonight!, Zane, Josh & Cynthia @ Mystery Train, My My, Dave & the Peterboro Public Library, Andy Kivela, Mike B. for being such a Mike B., DJ BRT & last but not least the Southwestern Shoe Snake. We apologize for the lateness (but not the depth) of our gratitude. For anyone we might have forgotten, check back in a few days, we'll have thanked you by then.
In post tour, but tour related news: Brett Robinson of Belltonesuicide fame-by-association/Radioactive Prostitute infamy might be compiling BTS & EEA CD-r's of live tracks from various tour stops for eventual release, as well as uploading live video somewhere on the interweb. We'll get back you on that.
In unrelated news: Teenage Cool Kids & Trifle Tower were awesome, too bad no one was here to see it. BTW you guys left w/o getting real paid. We feel like real jerks all around.
It's our intention to take the summer & fall (in between a few shows) to write more music & begin recording what will hopefully be a full length. Let's see how that goes.
